How the garment bust is measured: The jacket is laid flat and measured straight across the front from underarm to underarm. That measurement is then doubled to calculate the full garment bust circumference shown in the chart. These are finished garment measurements—not body measurements.

The Vail Society is intentionally designed with a roomy, oversized fit through the body and dropped shoulders. The generous finished bust measurements include the extra ease needed to layer the jacket over sweaters and other cool-weather pieces.
Because the fabric has no stretch, compare the finished bust measurement with a similar outerwear jacket you already own rather than using your body measurement alone. For the intended relaxed look, choose your usual size. If you are between sizes or prefer a closer, less oversized silhouette, you may feel comfortable choosing the smaller size.
